In this week's app roundup: Instagram, Colorized; Fieldrunners, Droidified; Powerful People, humanized; Google Maps, downloaded; Chrome, sort of on the iPad; plastic surgery, virtually imagined; words, summarized; and much, much more.
Pixable: An app that finds the best photos shared by your Facebook friends. It works by ranking photos based on likes, comments, tags and other criteria to show you the best, funniest, silliest photos your friends have posted. It's been updated with a new interface that makes photo browsing even easier. Free.
Fieldrunners: The endlessly popular tower defense game, Fieldrunners, is finally on Android. There's over 400 levels across 4 battlefields, 7 different weapons to guard your territory with and hours upon hours of fun. I've lost myself for days while playing this game when it was on iOS and plan to lose myself for the rest of the weekend now that it's on Android. So much fun, trust me.
POWER Platon: Similar to The Final Hours of Portal 2 before it, POWER Platon shouldn't be pigeon holed into the traditional sense of the word 'app'. Instead, it's a series of portraits of world leaders that bring a coffee table-styled book onto your iPad. The up close pictures, which are all amazing, were taken by famed photographer Platon over a 12-month period at the UN headquarters in New York City. It effectively humanizes the giants of our world. $10
