Japanese Air Traffic Controller Posts Air Force One Flight Plan to Personal Blog

As we learned over at the New York Times today, if you were perusing the personal blogs of Japanese air traffic controllers in November you might have come across detailed flight plans for Air Force One. Oops!

The security lapse was the work of one currently unnamed Japanese air traffic controller, who reportedly posted the top secret coordinates—near indecipherable to the layman, notes the Times—to their personal blog as a way to impress friends.

The controller, a man in his 50s, posted about 12 pages worth of information in all, which also included the coordinates and flight data for an unmanned U.S. drone. He is currently being questioned and Japan's Prime Minister, Yoshihiko Noda, may formally apologize to President Obama during a scheduled meeting this month in New York. [NYT]
