Although the old axiom that the best camera is the one you have with you is still accurate in 2013, it should have an additional corollary: sometimes the best camera isn't your cell phone. Tiny optics and sensors produce passable — even good — photos, but a real dedicated camera simply has more capabilities. That's why folks still want point-and-shoot cameras, but a cheap crappy point-and-shoot won't be much better than your phone. You want an excellent point and shoot. A good choice is the Canon Powershot S110, a camera that Mario Aguilar called the "most refined little pocket camera Canon has ever made." Check out his review here.
This is a rare product where the MSRP is actually the price. The Canon S110 is a $450 camera, and at most places it sells for $450. But there are two great deals today, depending on what color you want. The cheapest option is $350 for the White S110 over at Buydig. Amazon's selling the black S110 for $379. These are both very good deals for a camera that doesn't suck — and buying gadgets that don't suck is how you save money in the long run. [Buydig | Amazon]

These Klipsch Airplay Speakers Are Your Runner-Up Deal of the Day

Sometimes the Deal of the Day is the DotD by default. It'll be a bargain, sure, but to get there it only had to beat a weak Dealz bracket. That is not the case today. Right now, from Woot via Amazon, the Klipsch G-17 Airplay dock is $220. Straight up. The G-17 was the DotD back in November at $350, and that itself was a hot deal. At $220, it's a straight up steal. Seriously. [Amazon]
