Most galaxies, like the Milky Way, have two or more spiral “arms,” but NGC 4725 only has one. Don’t worry NGC 4725 you may be weird, but we still love you and think you’re great looking. Space is a safe space.

Computer simulations show that when a galaxy only has one arm it can either be leading or trailing depending on how the galaxy spins. Data for the image was captured by Hubble and Japan’s Subaru Telescope. NGC 4725 is 41 million light-years away in the Coma Berenices constellation, and is 100 thousand light-years across. But seriously, that other “normal” galaxy in the background is sooooo boring. [Astronomy Picture of the Day]
