For the last several years, the single-day box office king in Hong Kong has been Avatar. People love giant blue cat-people! But not, apparently, as much as they love full frontal nudity. Because after grossing $340,000 US on 73 screens, 3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy has taken Hong Kong’s single-day box office crown.
So just who is your new undisputed champion? Much in the way that Avatar is a ripoff loose remake of Fern Gully, 3D Sex and Zen: Extreme Ecstasy is an adaption of an eponymous 1991 film. The plot, according to SlashFilm:
[It’s] about a sexually frustrated teacher in ancient China who gets wrapped up in the harem of a new friend. Featuring full nudity and “camouflaged lovemaking” but no actual penetration.
