If you don’t want to bang down ten notes for the full-fat Chinatown Wars iPhone app, this free “Lite” version is worth checking out. It provides a good taste of the Nintendo DS game, with the first three missions playable.

The $10 version offers all levels, plus the minigames, and while the controls are a little bit awkward it’s still a heck of a lot better than playing Solitaire for the umpteenth time. Bet you anything that a good percentage of the downloaders of the free version end up being up-sold to the full $10 game. Three levels is just not enough stealin’ and dealin’.
