When Google announced that it would be closing down Wave, hardly a tremor was felt across the land, but seemingly some people out there were using it, as close to 28,000 people are supporting the Save Google Wave website.

Google has already stated that they “don’t plan to continue developing Wave as a standalone product,” but that they “will maintain the site at least through the end of the year and extend the technology for use in other Google projects.”

Comments on the “wall” about the closure of Wave come from teachers, filmmakers, students and even a theoretical physicist. There we were thinking it was only used by manhunters and the Lifehacker team.

One thing, however—why is the Save Google Wave team crying out about the closure on a website, and not Google Wave? Am I missing something here? Could be because I haven’t logged into my Wave account since, oooh…the first week I signed up? [Save Google Wave]
