First man on the Moon
The Apollo 11 mission landed the first humans on the Moon more than 50 years ago, and NASA’s upcoming Artemis 3 mission aims to land the first woman on the lunar surface no earlier than 2025.
At the time, the first boot marks on the lunar surface were commemorated by a special-edition stamp issued in September 1969 and titled, “First Man on the Moon.” The stamp featured an illustration of NASA Astronaut Neil Armstrong taking his first steps on the Moon and kickstarting an entirely new era of space exploration.
