Because it’s not a chicken vending machine but an egg vending machine! Live! Fresh! Good! Um, not exactly. The egg vending machine was an installation made by NOAH (think PETA but German) to show the dark side of how farms treat their chickens.
Which is to say, not well. NOAH wants people to buy free range eggs in hopes to change the farming system where chickens are cooped up in cages. Under those cramped conditions, they’re essentially treated as egg vending machines. A free range farm allows their chickens to roam around. I’m all for animal rights but I wouldn’t exactly be against putting a quarter in a machine and having a fresh egg pop out either. I love vending machines. [NOAH]
