Alright, so she’s not actually made of rock candy. But Wendy, the summertime outdoor architectural project slated to go up at MoMa’s PS1 satellite location in Queens, certainly looks like a giant crunchy piece of faux-crack goodness.

HWKN, the architectural firm responsible for Wendy, had the project greenlit after winning MoMa’s “annual Young Architect’s Program to develop a temporary, outdoor installation at MoMA PS1 in Queens that provides shade, seating, and water.”
Housed within a 70-foot square scaffolding 45-feet high, Wendy’s blue spikes are sheathed in a fabric skin that has been treated with titanium dioxide nanoparticles to neutralize airborne pollutants. According to GizMag, “Elements of sustainability and recycling were also required to be part of the design, which will ultimately serve as a “partyscape” backdrop for a series of summer outdoor concerts at PS1.”
