Imagine your excitement as a 15-year-old girl when your Mom brings back an iPad as your birthday gift. Then imagine the shock and horror when you open the box and only see a stack of yellow notepads. That's what happened to Courtney Akers from Texas.

We've seen rip off jobs like this before—a laptop turned out to be duct tape and an iPad turned out to be wooden—but those fake outs were bought in shady parking lots. This iPad was actually bought by Courtney's Mom at a Wal-Mart.

When Courtney's Mom went back to Wal-Mart to complain, the store manager didn't do anything for them. No return, no refund, no nothing. Luckily, Wal-Mart the company is stepping up, they'll be giving Courtney the iPad she was supposed to get on her birthday. As for what happened? Wal-Mart reasons it was some crook who replaced a brand new iPad with a stack of notepads and then resealed the box to make it look like it was never opened. Wal-Mart says:

We have reviewed our surveillance video to see if we can find out who is responsible for this and we are sharing that information with local law enforcement in hopes that whoever is behind this is held responsible for their selfish acts
