Inhumans
Over the weekend, a completely out-there rumor began circulating that the Inhumans movie—the Marvel movie that Agents of SHIELD has been teasing for the past year—has been cancelled.
Supposedly this cancellation is due to a power play on the part of Marvel movie boss Kevin Feige, who recently wrested total control over the Marvel movies away from overall Marvel supremo Ike Perlmutter. And now Feige wants to deny the Marvel TV department (still run by Perlmutter) the “get” of introducing the Inhumans ahead of a big movie. This rumor comes via Bleeding Cool.
But Birth Movies Death has cast some doubt on the idea that the Inhumans movie is cancelled. Their sources claim that Adam McKay, following his writing credit on Ant-Man, has been repeatedly approached to direct The Inhumans—and is eager to do so. As ever with rumors like these, it’s best to take them with a sprinkling of salt for now.
Star Wars: Rogue One
Producer Simon Kinberg discusses the importance of the film having a female protagonist:
I don’t know if it’s calculated. Part of what we all want to do is make movies that look like the world we live in. Over half the world we live in is female, and we don’t live in an all-white world. The moviegoing world looks like our world. That hasn’t always been true in big-budget movies. Certainly, there are female protagonists, but very few in big-budget movies. In the past, they’ve tended to be pretty whitewashed.

Boba Fett Anthology
F. Gary Gray is bring rumored to be in talks to direct the second Star Wars anthology film, purportedly a Boba Fett-focused film, previously slated to be helmed by Josh Trank. But alongside Gray’s involvement comes a far bigger rumor: that Fantastic Four star Michael B. Jordan is also being attached to the film, to play none other than the lead Bounty Hunter himself. Star Wars: The Force Awakens
J.J. Abrams says that Disney aren’t attempting to “Disney-fy” the film, during a talk with Vanity Fair, adding that he has the final say on the film’s theatrical cut:
I cannot say enough about how Bob Iger and Alan Horn have understood this thing that is now part of the Disney company. And they’re not trying to Disney-fy it, they’re not doing anything other than, I think, an incredibly smart thing, which is letting Kathleen Kennedy — who is a remarkable person and producer — run and lead Lucasfilm to a place where I think it wants to go. They let us make the movie we wanted to make.

Howard The Duck
Seth Green—who briefly voiced Howard in his Guardians of the Galaxy cameo—says that another film starring the Duck is not happening (as far as he knows):
Nobody has said anything to me about that. The truth is, Gunn and I are buddies from Scooby-Doo. So, the whole Howard the Duck thing, and me getting to be that was a last minute, ‘who do I know who is in town who can do this on this date before the color print delivers?’ Nobody is thinking about a Howard the Duck movie. I love that people are running with it. But you know, it’s not going to happen. The most I can imagine, and you can’t quote me, because it’s not based in fact, but the most I can imagine is that the character could cameo at some point in some other thing. Like, we saw Cosmo already. So there is going to be some kind of rocket offshoot, right? Some kind of outer galactic mayhem. You can imagine that Howard would cameo in that. But he’ll never have a standalone movie again.

Adventure Time
Speaking at NYCC, Executive Producer Adam Muto has confirmed once again that creator (and former writer) Pendelton Ward is working on a premise for a movie based on the smash hit animated series. [CBR]
Interceptor
The Heavy Metal comic about vampires living in a nuclear wasteland as they attempt to go to space—due to debut in December—is allegedly already being turned into a feature film. [CBR]
The Last Witch Hunter 2
A sequel to the upcoming Vin Diesel supernatural action movie is already in the works. [CBR]
Firefly
In perhaps the least surprising news, at New York Comic Con’s Firefly cast reunion panel, the cast expressed a desire to create a second season of the show:
“Full-time, please,” [Fillion] responded, alluding to a desire for stability after the tumult of the original run.
Jewel Staite, who played Kaylee Frye, agreed. “Otherwise they would cast new people.”
“And nobody wants that,” joked Gina Torres, who played Zoë Washburne, as the crowd cheered in agreement.

Jessica Jones
Daredevil comics villain Nuke/Frank Simpson, a psychotic supersoldier with the American Flag tattooed on his face, plays a part in the series—played by actor Wil Traval, who’s character was previously teased as a Police Officer. [CBR]
Ash vs Evil Dead
Bruce Campbell is convinced the show will get a second season:
There’s no official announcement, but we’ve had to do things to get ready for a second season that they have allowed us to do. Like keeping warehouses and extending leases, so all the indications are there.
Look, we got a second season the minute there were 15 million views on Facebook for the trailer. That was our second season right there, I can tell you right now. They were like, ‘Got it! We know this show now!’ They were finally convinced of its following.

Agent Carter
Entertainment Weekly are reporting the show has cast four new characters. Wynn Everett will play Whitney Frost, the previously teased villain Madame Masque, while Currie Graham will play Frost’s husband Calvin Chadwick, a “high-powered businessman”.
Reggie Austin has been cast as Jason Wilkes, “a quirky, yet charismatic scientist who instantly charms Peggy — and potentially becomes her new love interest”, and finally, Lotte Verbeek will play Ana Jarvis: the “free-spirited” wife of Edwin Jarvis, who becomes a close friend of Peggy during her time in Los Angeles.

Patrick Ness discusses his recently announced Doctor Who spinoff:
I want to have new things that maybe we haven’t seen before. That’s my goal. That’s what I’m aiming for — shock you with something new. Something like the Weeping Angels, which I think are great, are brand new. Steven Moffat invented them a couple seasons ago. There’s not going to be any weeping angels on ‘Class,’ but I’m just saying that they’re something new to the Doctor Who universe that are just awesome, and I would like to do that.
