By official we mean the Acer MP-500 finally has a product page, but unfortunately it is on the German Acer page. Whatever, at least it is a start. The MP-500 actually seems promising, besides the odd semi-boxy form factor. It supports DivX, XviD, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and WMV 9 for video play back. For the audio the MP-500 will only play MP3 and WMA. So essentially Acer is telling iTunes users to go f themselves. It can also record audio and video and has a line-in, line-out and TV-out. It will be available with a 20GB hard drive and a 3.5-inch screen for playback. The battery life is decent: 4 hours of continuous video playback and 8 hours of audio playback. The MSRP seems to be lingering around 350 Euros, or approximately $440.
