Rejoice! Frequent Whedon collaborator Amy Acker will join Marvel's series for at least one episode later this year as Coulson's former gal pal, frequently referred to as "the cellist." More details, plus the reveal of the blue thing after the jump! (You know what I'm talking about.)
The first mention of Coulson's cello-playing friend comes from The Avengers, when Phil is talking to Pepper Potts. She's been mentioned a few times since then in the show, but we'll finally get to see her in an upcoming episode. According to TV Guide:
A talented musician turning heads in Portland, Audrey believes Coulson to be dead and has no idea that he's guarding her from a distance as a super-powered threat from her past re-emerges.
Her episode is slated to air on April 22nd.
Meanwhile, if you're been wondering what the mysterious blue creature that SHIELD had trapped and used to save Coulson's life and Coulson used to save Skye's life, was, Skye' actress Chole Bennett announced it was indeed a Kree alien earlier this week in this red carpet interview from this year's Paley Fest.
The only other real established Marvelrace of blue person are the Atlanteans, but given that Guardians of the Galaxy is the next movie on Marvel roster after Captain America: The Winter Soldier in a couple of weeks, it makes far more sense for Agents of SHIELD to start seeding a little alien/scifi stuff now before the movie hits. Still, it's nice to have it confirmed.
