The electronics powering the Atari 2600 were even simpler than those found in the original Game Boy. So why are recreations like the Atari Flashback 2.0 so big? There’s no reason they have to be, as lovablechevy proved by squeezing them into a old Atari video game cartridge.

Her mod started by first clearing out an original Atari cartridge, and then squeezing the guts from an Atari Flashback 2.0 inside, as well as an LCD display, control buttons taken from a Wii controller, and a 700 mAh battery that’s good for about four hours of gaming.

In total the tiny cartridge console features 42 classic Atari games built right in, plus a microUSB port that allows old-school Atari controllers to be attached and used for a more authentic gaming experience. You can’t really be expected to play Pong without a paddle, can you?
