Anker has announced the Solix S2000 Portable Power Station, a compact, 2,010Wh backup battery that the company claims can power a refrigerator for up to 35 hours. It’s lightweight, about the size of a PC tower, and it’ll be available starting in June.
The S2000 isn’t quite itty-bitty, but it’s certainly more portable than other batteries with similar specs. It stands 12.7 inches tall and is 11.1 inches long by 8.19 inches wide, according to Anker. It also weighs 35.7 pounds. For comparison, the DJI Power 2000 has a very slight edge with its 2,048Wh capacity, but it weighs 49 pounds and is 17.7 inches long, 9.2 inches tall, and 8.8 inches wide.

Running down the rest of the list, the S2000 has two USB-C ports—one of which outputs at 100W while the other just 15W—a single 12W USB-A port, and an inlet for charging via solar at up to 400W. If you want to draw more comparisons, the Power 2000 has four each of both kinds of ports, with its USB-C ports maxing out at 140W or 65W, depending on which you use. On the other hand, the S2000 has five three-prong, 1,500W AC outlets total—three in the front and two in the back—so, tomato, to-mah-to?
I’m skeptical of Anker’s claim that the S2000 can power a refrigerator for 35 hours; there are plenty of variables there, so maybe it can power certain fridges for that long, but according to a blog post on Anker’s own website, some fridges can use around 4,000Wh in a single day, or roughly double the capacity of the Solix S2000. As always, take such claims with a grain of salt until reviewers get to take a crack at it.
The Anker Solix S2000 Portable Power Station is available for preorder starting today and due for release on June 2. Its street price is $1,199, putting it roughly in line with many other comparable big batteries, but this being Anker, I’d expect to see persistent sales.
