Asus has already been experimenting with mixing Android and Windows in the same device with its bizarre but intriguing 18.5-inch Transformer All-in-One desktop, giant-Android-slab-thing. Now, it’s taking the concept to its logical extreme with the new Transformer Book Trio, dual processor-weilding device that staking its claim to tablet, notebook, and desktop territory.

Much smaller than its gargantuan OS-switching predecessor, the Transformer Book Trio has a 11.6-inch, 1080p screen. And then there’s also the pair of processors. The Book’s screen packs an Atom processor behind the glass to run Android 4.2.2 as a tablet with 64GB of flash storage. Then, when you plug it into the keyboard dock, you’ll be treated to a full-on, 4th generation Core i7-4500U, 1TB of hard drive space, and a larger battery.

The “three-in-one” Asus is boasting here requires that you consider this guy as both a laptop and a desktop, which is as true for the Transformer Book Trio as it is for any laptop that has USB ports and can handle video out. Still, it’s an interesting take on the detachable problem. A nice “more is more” solution.

So far there’s no word on price, but Asus says the Transformer Book Trio will be available later this year. [Gizmodo ES]
