Wired reports that Andrew “Weev” Auernheimer, 26, has been sentenced to 41 months in prison for exploiting an AT&T security hole three years ago. His bid to stay out of prison has failed. Instead, he’s going to get 3.5 years in the slammer.

In court documents first reported by Gizmodo last week, Weev’s lawyers tried to argue that he should only get probation for exposing AT&T’s faulty security. They argued that Weev didn’t so much hack AT&T as walk through a door the company left wide open. Well, the argument failed to persuade the judge who just locked the hacker up for the rest of his twenties. [Wired]
