It seems like everyone's turning to Virtual Reality lately as a marketing promo, the likes of Pacific Rim and Interstellar are the latest to use the tech to plug themselves. Not to be left out, Warner Bros. is joining in by letting people poke around the Batcave - but not just any Batcave. Batman: TAS' Batcave!

Warner are teaming up with OTOY to create the 'holographic video' demo for the Oculus Rift and Samsung's Gear VR, which will let users enter the stylised world of the 1992 classic cartoon, using new tools to try and emulate the 2D show's distinct art style in a 3D space. In order to capture the show's look perfectly, OTOY have even go so far as drafting iconic DC animator and artist Bruce Timm to help ensure that the process goes smoothly. It seems like an odd choice for WB to, of all the different incarnations of Batman, to try and bring the 2D version of him to Virtual Reality. Wouldn't something like the Arkham games been a better candidate?

Still, as you can see from some of the stills, it looks like they're doing a pretty good job of recreating Batman: TAS' look so far. If you've got a Rift Developer Kit (you lucky devil) or a Samsung phone that's Gear VR compatible, you'll be able to download the project through the ORBX viewer app later this year.
