Before it hit Broadway, the Spiderman musical was a parade float (featuring Batman)

Remember those NSFW superheroines of Rio de Janeiro’s Carnaval we saw yesterday? Their scantily-clad antics weren’t the first time superheroes have hit Rio. In 2010, this building-sized float wowed revelers. Says YouTube uploader SoundsofSamba:

This huge structure was being pushed down the parade ground by people hidden inside. The black square on the slope is a window for the driver to look out of so he can steer. The samba school is Unidos da Tijuca and the designer was Paulo Barros.

Incidentally, the oscillating skyscraper wasn’t all that different from the set of Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark. As for Batman, well, he’s an entirely new embellishment.
