The movie is set during World War II, when Turing helped crack the Enigma code. A discovery which greatly impacted the length of conflict. This image which was released via the film’s twitter site, was most likely released due to the news that Turing has received a posthumous pardon from Queen Elizabeth II, “for his conviction in 1952 on charges of homosexuality, at the time a criminal offense in Britain.”

Here’s hoping The Imitation Game will educate the masses on that historic injustice, as well as the pivotal role Turing played in shaping the world we all live in.
