Nord Security has been pumping out some serious security tools. NordVPN is the most notable example, with stringent security and ironclad privacy. Then, we have NordLocker and its encrypted cloud storage that millions of users enjoy. Today, we’ll focus on the NordPass review; Nord Security’s flagship password manager.

NordPass has been with us for a while. It’s famous for its zero-knowledge encryption and exciting convenience features for password storage and management. Most importantly, the name behind this password manager (Nord Security) is one of the most resounding in the industry.

With rich experience in cybersecurity, its products have never been “victims” of severe data breaches and similar catastrophes. Knowing all this, you might still be thinking, “Is NordPass really good?” The short answer is YES, and the long one includes more of the “E” letters.

However, you’ll see there’s much more to address regarding its features, ease of use, price, and everything else. Our full, comprehensive NordPass review for 2026 is below; read on.

Is NordPass Safe to Use? Yes, and Here’s Why!

Every password manager has one important task – to be safe and secure. People entrust their lives to these tools, using them to manage important data, such as credit cards, notes, and passwords for business mail. To start this NordPass review, we’ll explain why it is safe.

First of all, it uses bank-grade XChaCha20 encryption. If you do a quick Google search, you’ll find that it’s the safest encryption, often called “impenetrable.”

NordPass uses 2FA as well, helping sway off unwanted log-in attempts and make YOU the only one with access.

Perhaps the most important feature is end-to-end encryption. We’ve seen this in encrypted cloud storage providers, most notably NordLocker from Nord Security. Zero-knowledge encryption means even NordPass has no clue which passwords you’re storing.

In other words, it can’t access your passwords because you hold the master key needed for decryption. However, losing the master key will lock you out of the account and passwords will be lost forever. To solidify its position in the market, the service underwent a few audits.

Nordpass Audit

To be clear, we’re talking about SOC or Systems and Organization Controls audits. Type 1 was performed in 2022, while Type 2 was performed in 2023. Basically, both audits have swiftly confirmed that NordPass operates according to the highest security standards.

They couldn’t find vulnerabilities and critical errors that would impact users’ privacy. At the start of our review of NordPass, we must say we’re all but surprised. Nord Security is a veteran in this field, which resonates through NordPass, NordLocker, and NordVPN.

NordPass Setup & Ease of Use Review

Getting started is an easy feat. Easier than saying “Worcestershire” – try it. Nevertheless, to get started, you’ll need to subscribe or at least get the free plan; more about it in a minute. Do this by using the button below and you’ll go to NordPass.

From here, pick the plan you like, bearing in mind its Premium and Family plans that are severely discounted and cost as low as $1.29/mo. Once you subscribe, NordPass will let you download it. You won’t get a desktop app here; instead, everything is done in your browser.

Nordpass Interface

We’re using Brave, so the setup revolved around downloading NordPass for free from the store and signing up. Once the Master Key has been created by our mighty hands, we can start using the password manager. When not using it, it just sits in the background.

However, it also works by letting you use its Autofill function and prompting you to save login credentials for future log-ins. Of course, the service works on mobile devices, where its apps are state-of-the-art. We tested NordPass on iOS and Android with success.

All you have to do is download the app from your respective store. Now, enter your email and Master Key. Congrats; the app is yours. Both platforms are thoroughly supported, with identical apps that skimp on nothing.

Everything you get in its web-based app is there. From managing passwords and notes to tools like Password Health, Email Masking, Emergency Access, and many more. Worry not; every feature will explained in our NordPass review.

NordPass Price: How Much Does It Cost?

Have you read our NordVPN test, by the way?

If so, you know that this VPN is pretty inexpensive given its #1 place in our book. Well, NordPass continues the trend of jaw-dropping discounts, as its starting price is a meager $1.29/mo for the 2-year plan.

Gizmodo lets you save big on this password manager. If you click the buttons in this article, you’ll be able to pick from two plans. The first is the 2-year plan with 3 extra months at the said price of $1.29/mo. This turns out to be just $34.83 for the first 27 months and yearly thereafter.

If you want to commit to a shorter period, you have another option; a 1-year plan. This one also packs 3 free months and costs $25.35 for the first 15 months, or $1.69/mo. The renewal price is the same in both cases, roughly $35 annually after the initial period expires.

Its versatile nature doesn’t limit you to Individual plans. You can opt for Business and Family plans if you want, both of which are suited to multiple users. The Family plan is for 6 users and costs $2.79/mo for the 2-year variant. Business plans start at $1.79/mo for 10 users.

In our NordPass test, we loved how flexible the service is. For example, there’s a 30-day money-back guarantee AND a free plan to test the waters. We must warn you that its free plan is quite limited and supports only a few features; Autosave and Autofill are some.

You can also store your passkey, passwords, and credit cards. However, there’s no weak password detection, data breach scanning, etc.

NordPass Review of Features & Functions

This NordPass analysis would be incomplete without addressing the features.

We’re using NordPass daily for storing and managing some pretty sensitive information. The fact that we still do this tells you volumes about this app’s quality.

Let us delve deeper into its features and describe our experience with each.

Credentials Storage Features

NordPass isn’t only about your passwords; neither are other great password managers. Apart from passwords, NordPass can store:

  • Passkeys
  • Secure Notes
  • Credit Cards
  • Personal Info

Passkeys are used to log in to your accounts without using your actual passwords. This is available only on supported sites but is quite convenient to avoid typing your password for added security. During our NordPass review, we loved the credit card storage option.

This is very convenient for online purchases. You don’t manually have to input the card number, security code, name, and so on. Instead, using NordVPN’s Autofill function, you can provide the needed information with a single click or tap on the screen.

When it comes to personal info, that’s another huge plus for NordPass. We grew tired of having to fill out various forms online on our own; it’s so irritating at times. NordPass gives you the luxury of filling out personal info once and then automatically using it later on.

Mobile versions of NordPass can also store your biometrics. Our Android phone was used to log in with our fingerprint scan for example. Conversely, we’ve used our iPhone and its Face Unlock feature to sign in to NordPass and sites like PayPal, bank accounts, etc.

Password Generator

Creating a secure password is something longer than expected. You simply don’t know where to start. Well, NordPass includes a password generator to come to your aid. You can select the type of password; characters or words.

That’s the first step.

From here, you can alter the length and toggle capital letters, digits, and symbols. NordPass can craft some impenetrable passwords and let you use them on your new account. Best of all; you can store your login credentials for that site and not have to remember them.

Email Masking

An extremely useful tool we loved in our NordPass test. It lets you shield your original email address by using another. All the messages you receive on the “mask” email will be forwarded to your original email. Yet, the sender won’t be able to detect it – clever stuff!

Nordpass Email Masking
© NordPass

The only downside, if we can call it that, is that mask emails look a tad fake. For example, our fake email was [email protected]. Sounds a bit silly and fake, which can, at times, divert the sent email to the recipient’s Spam folder. Something you want to avoid.

Password Health

As you store your passwords on NordPass, you’ll notice it informs you of weak, reused, and old passwords. Reusing them is never good. Nor is their simplicity that makes them reachable by wannabe hackers. The password manager will inform you of such inconveniences.

From here, you can use its Password Generator to craft new passwords or even passkeys that can be used to log in instead. However, if you use the Password Generator in the first place, the chances of creating a weak password are minimal. If at all existent.

Data Breach Scanner

In our comparison between Surfshark and NordVPN, we discovered that both offer dark web monitoring. It’s just a matter of nomenclature. Well, this very feature isn’t VPN-like in a way that it’s usually found within password managers instead. NordPass is no exception.

NordPass monitors your email address and informs you of data breaches. You’ll see if your private details have been exposed and be able to act right away. We love that it informs you of this as soon as concerns are detected, so you have ample time to react.

At the time of working on this NordPass review for 2026, our email tied to the NordPass account had 3 security breaches. Much to our surprise, two of them were on Gravatar and EyeEm, both of which we rarely use nowadays.

Prevent Data Breaches With NordPass

Credentials Sharing

Using NordPass’ Business or Family plans gives you another feature; password sharing. Logically, when multiple users share an account, you’ll have to be able to distribute relevant passwords. Our team consists of many people who need different accounts for testing.

Some need a VPN, some cloud storage, and some different streaming services. To keep everything under control, we use NordPass to promptly share passwords and keep everyone happy. To do this, we select the password and click Share after which, we provide the email address of the recipient.

From this moment, the password is encrypted and sent, and to decrypt and use it, the recipient must have NordPass installed. You can also modify rights and allow the recipient to only use the password or edit AND use it. What about other credentials?

They can also be shared!

You can share notes, passkeys, personal info, and so on. Albeit, some of this information is better left to you and not readily available to your colleagues and friends.

Customer Support

Customer support of NordPass varies based on your subscription. Premium users with Individual and Family plans can still enjoy it. They get 24/7 support for quick responses and remediation of potential problems. Personally, we never had bigger issues with the service.

If you do, you’ll find the support team responsive. Plus, there’s an array of self-help “stuff” on the site, such as the knowledge base, videos, and FAQs. Enterprise plan users get bonus support in the form of a dedicated account manager and face-to-face onboarding.

This helps elevate the service and gives it additional polish for that premium feeling.

Summary

To conclude our comprehensive review of NordPass updated for 2026, we must give you our final two cents.

Well, having used this password manager for years at this point, we failed to find anything bad or critical that should deter you from buying it. Is it perfect?

Well, it’s as good as a premium password manager can be. It ideally fulfills our needs in terms of password storage and management, as well as additional security and convenience features. Downsides are minimal, except for a fairly limited free plan with shallow offerings.

Some also complain about not being able to save driver’s license details, which can be remedied by using custom fields. Overall, NordPass is an exciting chapter in Nord Security’s book. It rivals and surpasses its competitors like 1Password and Passwarden too!

Being cheaper than both and with the same security and accessibility, we’d pick NordPass all day any day.
