Hard problems like squaring the circle, getting your ex back, and choosing between Wix vs Webflow will always bother people. The latter will especially knock through your skull if you’re trying to start a website. Picking between two popular website builders is no joke.

Wix is famous for its simplicity and for allowing everyone to make a website in no more than a few hours. On top of that, it’s great for e-commerce, offers a myriad of SEO tools, and is amplified by a marketing suite. Webflow is easy to start with. It’s easy to live with, in fact.

Apart from its free website builder plan, it offers an open-ended editor, which offers literally tons of customization features and a code-free website design. More importantly, Webflow allows you to create responsive websites to fuel your imagination and desire for growth.

To ease your decision, we decided to put both through a series of tests. This Wix vs Webflow comparison for 2026 will evaluate some of their key aspects, such as:

  • Ease of use
  • Templates
  • Website editor
  • Performance
  • SEO/marketing tools
  • Prices, and much more

Stay tuned to find out the victor of each category and ultimately, the winner of this fierce battle.

Wix vs Webflow: Quick Overview

Webflow is better for advanced website design, while Wix focuses on simpler, static websites and is beginner-friendly. Overall, Wix seems to have more features and cost less, making it our preferred option. Though, we still encourage you to read the entire comparison.

Website Setup: Wix vs Webflow

Starting out with Wix and Webflow is one of the simplest tasks. It’s like throwing out the garbage but this time, you really want to do it.

How to Get Started With Wix?

Once you register on Wix, it’ll ask you a few questions to determine the way you want to forge your website. You can go with an AI, which will come up with a few more questions and make a website based on your answers. The second option is to use a template.

If you choose this option, the list of templates will unravel and it’ll take hours to choose one. With over 900 of them, which we’ll discuss later, there’s a lot to dig out and explore. Selecting a template is a good way if you love being in the driver’s seat, so to speak.

Wix Template Design Options

You start out with a clean (not blank) slate and work your way up. It’s worth mentioning that you can “transform” the first route into the second by using your AI-created brief and editing it through Wix’s drag-and-drop editor. However, there’s a big caveat.

When you choose a template for your website, it’s game over.

You can switch to another template BUT you’ll lose all progress so far. That’s not the case with Squarespace, which allows for seamless template switching.

How to Get Started With Webflow?

For how complex Webflow is, its start is buttery-smooth.

Remember that you can start with Webflow for free. Also, you don’t need to verify your email! Simply sign up through Google if you like and get going. Like Wix, Webflow will ask inquire you about the type of website you want to create – a blog, or, let’s say, a store.

Questions about the number of people in your company and the purpose of the website will also be there. However, don’t cling too much to them because they’re not very important, especially because Webflow doesn’t let you “crawl” your way up using an AI.

At the very end of the introduction process, you’ll get these options:

Webflow Getting Started

You can start from a blank slate, use a template, or introduce yourself to Webflow via a tutorial. Having confidence in our abilities, we went for the middle one, chose a template, and after a minute of Webflow’s background cookery, we were greeted by a website editor.

A rather complex one but brim-filled with possibilities.

The first round is a tie, as both excel in simplicity and approachability for newcomers.

Which One Has Better Templates: Wix or Webflow?

Before we dive into the wavering sea of website editing, let’s quickly analyze Wix vs Webflow templates. We’re discussing stark differences that you’ll notice right away. To highlight some of them first:

  • Wix has 900+ templates, while Webflow has 40+.
  • In Wix, all templates are free. In Webflow, 20 are free and 20 are paid.
  • Wix automatically optimizes for mobile phones, while Webflow lets you do it on your own.

Let’s start with the number of templates. With over 900 of them, Wix punches Webflow’s gut, pumping its air out. However, even the 40 templates in Webflow look surprisingly good, especially the premium ones whose price tags can be a bit higher than you’d like.

The prices range from about $29 to $129 but pricier ones aren’t necessarily prettier.

Webflow Paid Templates
© Webflow

We like the Panels template, for example, which costs $79, and sports a nice, elegant, grid-based design. Free templates aren’t for trash and their looks are more than acceptable. In Wix which we reviewed fully recently, you’ll find that most templates look gorgeous.

Saying “most” when there are 900+ of them is a HUGE compliment – Wix can thank us later.

Wix Templates 2

Moreover, categorization is realized better in Wix. You can find templates not only by their “broad” category. Instead, if you need a template for a pet photography firm, simply type in “pet photography” and Wix will offer plenty. So, aesthetics-wise, both are satisfactory.

But the fact that Wix has 22+ times more templates (all free, by the way), is enough to make Webflow feel ashamed. This round is a win for Wix but the next round will stress-test Wix vs Webflow and uncover their true and stark differences.

Editing & Site-Building: Webflow vs Wix

The most important thing about a website builder is website building. Unbelievable!

However, it’s hard to judge which website builder is better, Wix or Webflow without being a bit subjective. Besides, there are two groups of people:

  1. People who want to start a website ASAP and prioritize simplicity
  2. People who want immaculate customization at the cost of a steep learning curve

Neither Wix nor Webflow is recommended for the first group of people. Both are famous for their vast possibilities and open-ended design philosophy, making them a bit harder to get into compared to, let’s say Shopify, whose website builder is extremely intuitive.

Website Building With Wix

Wix is a great choice if you prioritize creative flexibility over quickly building and publishing a website. Its templates are extremely customizable, as you can move around different sections and add new items to transform the template upside down.

If you don’t know what you’re doing, you’ll make a jumbled mess out of your website.

If you know what you’re doing, then Wix will satisfy all your brain cells and let your website flourish. We love its drag-and-drop builder, which lets you pick the item from the left and drop it anywhere on the page. That’s impossible in Weebly and its section-based interface.

Wix Editor
© Wix

Wix also allows for editing sections directly on the page. It’s a stark contrast to Shopify, where you must edit the text separately, in the menu on the right-hand side. Despite its “openness”, Wix is still considered fairly simple and tailored to beginners.

After about an hour, you’ll get a grasp of it and be capable of making an eye-appealing platform worthy of high-quality visitors.

Website Building With Webflow

Now, Webflow is in a completely different league. Remember what we said earlier? Neither of those is made for newbies, and while Wix is generally more complex than Squarespace, Weebly, and GoDaddy, it still can’t compete with the technical and professional feel of Webflow.

That’s because Webflow is sort of a CMS (Content Management System), which blends visual design and coding. As a result, Webflow allows for even more freedom, especially if you’re looking to create responsive websites with complex animations and special “behavior”.

Webflow is also based on CSS, JavaScript, and HTML, which explains its flexibility. You can edit every nook and cranny of the website, customize the position of the images, change the background, add borders, create custom text spacing, and so much more.

The “Preview” button lets you glance at the results right away, ensuring you’ve made exactly what you wanted. If you make a blog, for example, and want to turn it into an e-commerce website, Webflow allows you to do it with a single click, which we found very useful.

Also, compared to Wix, Webflow allows you to separately edit the mobile version of your website. You can, in fact, select the tablet version and work on it separately. Wix, on the other hand, offers responsive themes that are automatically optimized for mobile displays.

We’ll mention Wix Studio, which is similar to Webflow, supporting more website-editing features, custom codes, and the creation of responsive websites.

However, after examining both, we found Webflow’s editor more suited for dynamic web design, as Wix Studio is still slightly more inclined towards static designs.

So, Which One Is Better for You?

With this vital Webflow vs Wix comparison out of the way, we can comfortably say that Webflow is more capable and better for creating dynamic and responsive websites. Wix is simpler to use but it’s suitable for static, less complex websites.

At the end of the day, it boils down to your preference. As a web design expert, Webflow will surely fit you better. The lack of experience will likely sway you over to Wix’s side. Since this round judges their website-building features and options, it’s clear why Webflow wins.

Which Website Builder Is Better for E-commerce?

Starting an online store is one of Wix’s specialties. However, Webflow doesn’t rid you of these possibilities if you’re opting for selling online. As before, there are some crucial differences that we should review in this Wix vs Webflow duel.

Before we move on, you might want to read our Wix vs Shopify comparison and see how this website builder stacks against the most powerful e-commerce platform.

Wix E-commerce

One of Wix’s appeals is the ability to sell 50,000 products no matter the plan you choose. E-commerce is supported in 3 out of 4 plans and the least expensive one is excluded. That said, to start selling online with Wix, you have to choose at least the Core plan at $20/mo.

This one will let you sell both physical and digital goods, without the need to pay more. Compare Wix to WordPress and its WooCommerce platform, and you’ll see that the latter will “force” your payment for specific types of products. Either way, Wix is feature-rich.

Wix Ecommerce 2
© Wix.com

This is even truer if you pick the Business plan at $29/mo, which comes with vast e-commerce tools, such as:

  • Product syncing
  • Gift cards
  • Customizable shipping by location, weight, etc
  • Product Promotions
  • Multi-channel selling
  • Dropshipping
  • Tracking sales, and way more…

Wix’s transaction fees are 0% BUT third-party vendors like credit/debit card providers, Stripe, and PayPal will take their “part”. On average, Wix’s third-party transaction fees are 2.3% + $0.30 for every transaction. This fee model makes Wix suitable for smaller stores.

If you’re looking to make as many sales and are dead-set on profit, Shopify is a better option. Though, in our experience, Wix supports mid-sized businesses as well, thanks to its Shopify-like features, thanks to which, it can rival the e-commerce giant in many aspects.

Webflow E-commerce

Webflow is primarily a complex website builder that fuels your imagination with the cleanest burning fuel. E-commerce looks like it’s been put to the side because it’s excluded from Webflow’s primary plans. But if you click on E-commerce, you’ll see this:

Webflow E Commerce
© Webflow

The first thing you’ll see is the ability to sell up to 15,000 items – Wix allows for 50,000. The Standard plan allows for only 500 items, so it’s aimed strictly at very small stores. Coincidentally or not, you can start selling with Webflow at $29/mo – similar to Wix.

However, to get more out of it, you’ll likely prefer the Plus plan at $74/mo, which is more expensive than Wix’s E-commerce-friendly plans. Webflow’s Plus plan drops transaction fees to 0% from 2% in the Standard plan, and you get payment methods such as:

  • Stripe
  • PayPal
  • Web Payments
  • Apple Pay

Webflow also allows for selling digital and physical goods. There’s the option to add paid user accounts, which can be handy for including premium memberships for content. Webflow lets you customize your checkout page, which we’ve seen in Shopify.

Webflow Checkout Page
© Webflow

It’s a nice way of further optimizing the page and including your branding.

Webflow includes customizable shipping. This enables you to define shipping rules based on the location. Wix allows for collaborators and so does Webflow – ranging from 3 to 15, depending on the chosen plan.

Webflow lacks advanced selling features like dropshipping, multi-channel selling, and POS. Given its item limitations that don’t exceed 15,000, Wix is a better e-commerce website builder overall, and the one we would choose. Plus, it’s less expensive.

SEO & Marketing Features of Wix and Webflow

An integral part of every website is SEO. Without it, it’s dead on arrival, which is why most website builders include at least the basics.

SEO of Wix and Webflow

Regardless of which one you choose, Webflow or Wix, all the basics will be covered. You can edit your meta descriptions, SEO titles, alt titles, and more. In Wix, you’ll find the option to integrate Google Search Console useful for obtaining more SEO insights.

We appreciate the Semrush integration as well, which helps with keyword research and tackling some of the most “urgent” steps from Wix’s SEO Checklist. Webflow’s SEO features are also significant, with things like sitemap controls, schema markup support, and 301 redirects.

Webflow also comes with structured search support to ensure search engines like Google better understand the content on your site. In return, you’ll get more traffic and improve your website visibility. We also located website analytics in Wix and Webflow.

These are essential for tracking your ranking, for instance, and staying in touch with your website’s performance.

Marketing With Wix and Webflow

When it comes to marketing, both providers endorse it in multiple ways.

Wix has a built-in email marketing tool, which allows you to send 5,000 monthly emails for free. Emails are fully customizable and there are ample themes you can adapt to your branding and business. If you pay just $5/mo on top, you can send unlimited promotions.

Of course, Wix also has its first-party app store, where you can find more marketing apps to complement your business. We often use social media marketing apps, such as TikTok Feed, Social Follow Us, and Social Media Stream, all of which allow for business promotions.

If you dislike the built-in solution, third-party email marketing tools are there. One of our favorites is Mailchimp, handy for email automation and SMS marketing.

Webflow Apps
© Webflow

Webflow’s marketing revolves around Facebook and Instagram campaigns. However, Mailchimp integration is native to every E-commerce plan. Like Wix, Webflow includes a Marketplace, where you can find paid and free marketing tools.

We tested a few, such as HubSpot, FlowStar, Campaigner, Popup Forms, and a few more with great success.

It’s worth noting that Webflow’s built-in marketing tools are part of E-commerce plans. However, even if you opt for the General plans, you can take advantage of Marketplace and install and/or buy the given apps to optimize your SEO and marketing.

With so many out-of-the-box marketing and SEO tools, Wix seems like a better proposition. Wix is also a cheaper website builder in this aspect, as most of these tools are already included, while Webflow limits marketing tools to its E-commerce plans.

Wix vs Webflow Price Comparison

Every now and then in this Webflow vs Wix duel, we touched on some of their plans.

But how much do they really cost, and above all else, who offers a better value?

Wix Promo Code Price
© Wix.com

Above is the pricing structure of Wix. It’s simple. You get four plans to pick from, with the Light at $10/mo being the least expensive and Business Elite at $149/mo being the priciest. Our favorite plan, which we’ve been using for years, is Business at $29/mo because it’s suitable for the majority of users.

As said, it’s fully equipped with e-commerce features, marketing features, and ample SEO tools.

With 10 collaborators, 100 GB of storage, and a FREE domain for a year, the Business plans won’t make you regret the purchase. Rest assured, Wix includes all the security bells and whistles, such as free SSL, DDoS protection, WHOIS domain privacy, 2FA, etc.

These are all present in some of the most secure web hosting providers.

Webflow Price
© Webflow

Webflow also offers 4 premium plans. However, the Basic starts at $14/mo, which is more than Wix’s equivalent. This plan offers 10 GB of bandwidth, so it’s not unmetered, and its security is underwhelming, with only 2FA and basic DDoS protection.

The CMS plan at $23/mo sounds a lot better. It includes 3 user seats, site search (very handy!), surge protection, and 50 GB of bandwidth. More importantly, all plans offer unlimited backups, which is sort of a security feature keeping your site from perishing.

Webflow’s plans usually scale in terms of static page numbers (150 to 300), CMS collections (0 to 40), CMS items (0 to 20,000), and more. However, using a custom domain is in every premium plan. Only the free plan locks you to the “webflow” domain.

Which Website Builder Offers Better Value?

We’ll right away tell you that Wix offers better value in 2026.

First, it’s less expensive and offers more features for the money. Another reason is a free domain. Webflow doesn’t offer it, so the initial price bump can deter users on a less flexible budget. Webflow’s security is also a bit stingy considering the price of its plans.

We expected a bit more but that “more” is reserved for the Enterprise plan, which offers advanced DDoS protection, custom SSL certificates, and private staging.

Which Website Builder Performs Better? (Speed Tests)

Website builders aren’t built for speed. That’s the role of a hosting provider. However, building a website with Webflow or Wix doesn’t instantly “doom” you to bad, or God forbid atrocious performance. To prove that to you, we tested them on GTmetrix.

We used the default Canada (Vancouver) server to get a general overview of their performance. Let’s first start with Wix, whose GTmetrix results are displayed below:

Wix Website Speed Test
© GTmetrix.com

The results above look promising, especially:

  • TBT – 36 ms
  • LCP – 851 ms
  • TTI – 2.3 s
  • FCP – 243 ms
  • FLT – 5.2 s

Neither of these will break any norms, especially TTI or Time to Interactive of 2.3 seconds. However, keeping in mind Wix and Webflow rely on shared web hosting and “heavier” code like most website builders, some results aren’t surprising at all.

Fully Loaded Time of 5.2 seconds, in particular.

Here are the basic performance test results from Webflow:

Webflow Gtmetrix Test 1
© GTmetrix.com

For some reason, the Total Blocking Time (TBT) is a significant 164 ms. Ideally, it should be well below 150 ms, or even as close to 0 ms as possible—something Hostinger, our preferred web hosting provider, achieves consistently. All the details about this can be found in our complete review of Hostinger’s web hosting.

Next, let’s dive into the detailed test results and see how they compare to Wix:

Webflow Gtmetrix Test 2
© GTmetrix.com

To digress, the results are the following:

  • TBT – 164 ms
  • LCP – 779 ms
  • TTI – 2.2 s
  • FCP – 779 ms
  • FLT – 7.2 s

Wix and Webflow perform similarly. The latter achieved better LCP (Largest Contentful Paint), while the former had better FCP (First Contentful Paint) results. The most significant difference is in the Fully Loaded Time of 7.2 seconds in Webflow, which is too slow.

This means our site would take SEVEN seconds to load fully. Perhaps some optimization could be done on our side but hey, we did our best to make the two sites as identical as possible. With the results in place, we’ll give a slight advantage to Wix in this round.

Customer Support

Neither Wix nor Webflow reinvent the wheel with their support teams. So, does it mean their customer services are subpar? Should you play Karen and complain right away? Wait a second – no! In our comparison, we enjoyed chit-chatting with both teams.

Wix and Webflow rely on diligent 24/7 teams of experts ready to tackle your problems swiftly.

Wix Support
© Wix

The former offers 24/7 live chat support, phone and email support, and a nifty help center.

Webflow University
© Webflow

Webflow primarily relies on support tickets, with a pinch of other methods, such as Webflow University, Help Center, and Forum. Given its complexity, Webflow offers various video courses that elevate the experience to another level and teach you something new.

That’s not to say Wix isn’t a good teacher. Its Blog is home to well-written articles, while Wix Encyclopedia will familiarize you with countless terms used in web design and website building, helping you on your way to greatness.

If we had to pick one, we’d say that Weblow’s customer support is a bit better.

The provider “bought” us with its video courses and fun learning games, which is a master-class recipe for success. When you master something in Webflow, it feels rewarding and that’s how to capture the essence of teaching, in general. Props to Webflow for effort.

Summary: Pick Wix Over Webflow

So, it’s time to be the judge and give you our final two cents about Webflow vs Wix in 2026.

We can certainly say we had the time of our life comparing the two. They’re powerful, feature-ridden, and fully dedicated to their loyal user base. The user base is key here because Wix and Webflow serve two diametrically different types of people.

For most people, Wix will be the best website builder because:

  • It’s way easier to design a website with it
  • The website builder costs less money
  • It comes with a free domain name
  • There’s a plethora of built-in marketing tools and an SEO toolkit
  • It offers over 900 FREE website templates

Build a Website With Wix

If you’re not excited about these benefits, perhaps you’d value:

  • Having more design freedom at the cost of a steeper learning curve
  • Creating responsive and dynamic, as opposed to static websites
  • Having the ability to separately optimize a mobile version of your site
  • Being backed by world-class customer service

All of these benefits are associated with Webflow, which typically attracts more ambitious users who don’t mind the learning curve. Once you master Webflow, you’ll feel like a lion – a king. But some (or most) of you just want to publish a website quicker and simpler.

That’s where Wix takes the reins and becomes a more sensible option.
