Bilbo Baggins is getting a cutesy makeover to star in a JRPG

D'aaw. Let's ignore the fact that the poor Hobbit appears to have lost his nose and mouth in the transition, but still, he's made it largely okay in his transition to one of Japan's biggest mobile games later this month.

Brave Frontier (which you can play here in the west too) is a big Mobile-based RPG in Japan, and to tie in with The Battle of the Five Armies release this month, Warner Bros. and the game's Singaporean developers Gumi SG have unveiled a collaboration that will see Bilbo, Gandalf and Legolas join the game alongside a special Hobbit-themed dungeon.

There's no word on if the collaboration will come to other regions outside of Japan, but even if it doesn't, it's always interesting to see how decidedly western-focused products get promoted and visualised in Japan. I guess cameoing in a big mobile game is good way to go about it, considering the popularity of such games in Japan. Even sans mouth and Nose, Bilbo's looking good!
