The night before the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences hands out their golden statuettes to honor some of the best films of the year, the Golden Raspberry Award Foundation acknowledges some of the worst. This year, the Razzies held a special place in its gall bladder for the final Twilight film, with Breaking Dawn Part 2 taking home seven spray-painted raspberries.
Nine of the ten Razzie Award categories are voted on by the Golden Raspberry’s 657 voting members. (Anyone who pays the fees can become a member.) The tenth category, Worst Remake/Rip-Off or Sequel, is conducted by a poll at Rotten Tomatoes. Apparently, there’s a lot of Twi-hate among the voting members; the second Breaking Dawn received 11 nominations in ten categories and bested the likes of Battleship and That’s My Boy for the worst picture nomination. Although even this apparently rampant distaste for Twilight couldn’t trump the membership’s hatred of Adam Sandler; he grabbed the Worst Actor Razzie for the second year in a row.
