RED has their Epic camera. Arri has their Alexa camera. And now Canon has the C300, a digital video camera that's soley intended for professional film production, promising accurate color reproduction and awesome low and natural light performance.
According to Engadget, prospective buyers can opt for Canon's own EOS lens mount or Arri's PL mount, to power the camera with dual CF card slots and HD-SDI output. Obviously this thing shoots in 1080p, but other than its compact size, hard details are scarce for now. We'll have more as it surfaces. [Engadget]

After checking out the press release we've got some additional information. The Canon C300 has a Super 35 mm-equivalent 8.28 megapixel CMOS sensor capable of recording a Full HD 1920 x 1080 picture. The camera can shoot at frame rates of 59.41i, 50.00i, 29.97P, 25, 24p and 23.98P. The Canon C300 will be available in January for $20,000. [Canon] —MA
