Sony is prepping a Captain Planet MOVIE! Which means we’re getting a movie about a blue man with a green mullet who appears when five kids smoosh their magic planet rings together. Go Planet!
The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Sony and producers Mark Gordon, Don Murphy and Susan Montford are close to purchasing the rights of this ’90s cartoon. Little else is known about the project, like whether or not it will be live-action or animated. Fingers crossed they keep it kitchy, because a serious Captain Planet could be a very bad thing.
We can only hope the Don Cheadle will reprise his part from the Funny or Die sketch, alongside a cameo by pig-man Hoggish Greedly.
