I'm looking for some quick advice here.

Buying a Yoga 2 Pro for my dad's 60yr birthday. Don't think he'll be able to handle a completely new OS if I buy an MB Air. So, should I get the i7 with 4 gb RAM or i5 with 8gb RAM at same price?

Usage: generic. Office docs, browsing, movies & photo viewing with very basic photo editing and music. Portability is of prime concern. Both models have 256gb storage.

i7/4gb or i5/8gb. I'm leaning towards an i5 with 8gb since laptops choke first on RAM than processor/core speed. But any advice would help!

EDIT: FYI & FWIW: i7-4500U, i5-4200U

EDIT 2: Since the chipset gfx is powering a super hi-res display, should I consider the i7?
