Just over a week remains until Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey arrives, and while the mythological epic might not seem the most likely source of tie-in merch, a few options have indeed emerged. There are the popcorn buckets (of the IMAX camera and Trojan horse varieties), and now Insight Editions, in collaboration with Universal Pictures and Syncopy (Nolan’s production company), has announced a pair of fully authorized books to accompany the movie’s release.

First up is Filming the Odyssey: Inside the Making of Christopher Nolan’s Modern Epic. It’s written by James Mottram and features an introduction by Odysseus himself (aka the movie’s star, Matt Damon).

An Insight press release describes it as “an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the revolutionary new mythic saga, tracing the creation of Academy Award-winning filmmaker Christopher Nolan’s new film from script to world’s largest screens, through exclusive interviews with the director, his all-star cast, and his crew of acclaimed artists, accompanied by electrifying visuals from the film, including on-set photos, concept art, and research materials.”

There’s also a variant cover that’s only available through Barnes & Noble:

The second book is also written by James Mottram; it’s The World of the Odyssey: A Visual Journey. It’s described as “an illustrated companion that brings the film’s story, characters, and world to life. Rather than focusing on technical production details, it acts as a visual guide to the film—featuring character profiles, key locations and items, and pivotal moments. Including exclusive quotes from the director, cast, and crew, and a final chapter explaining a little movie magic, this book is the perfect companion to what’s certain to be an unforgettable cinematic experience.”

Filming the Odyssey will set you back $75 and releases in August, while The World of the Odyssey is $30 and releases in September. Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey hits theaters July 17.
