We’d thought that the cellphone companies had stopped trying to weasel out implementing number portability after a Federal appeals court threw out their lawsuit against the FCC back in June, but apparently they hadn’t quite given up yet. AT&T Wireless and Cingular just tried again in court to stall the new rules by arguing that the FCC hadn’t been clear enough about how number portability applies to landlines as well. On Wednesday this second lawsuit was also thrown out, though now it looks like AT&T Wireless and Cingular might be trying get Congress to intervene and obtain a delay.
