Lots of speculation that Cingular is weighing a merger with or acquisition of competitor AT&T Wireless. While we like the idea of there being more, rather than fewer, carriers (the cut-throat competition keeps prices down), some sort of consolidation in the post-number portability world is simply inevitable, and it’s really just a matter of who and when.
