On Tuesday, Cuisianart issued a voluntary recall of approximately 8 million food processors after 69 customers reported finding shards of metal blades in their food, including 30 cases that resulted in “mouth lacerations or tooth injuries.”

The recall covers over a dozen models, all of which feature dicing blades secured by four metal rivets. According to the official recall page, the blades can crack over time and leave “small, metal pieces of the blade” in processed food.
Food processors with the following model numbers are included in the recall: CFP-9, CFP-11, DFP-7, DFP-11, DFP-14, DLC-5, DLC-7, DLC-8, DLC-10, DLC-XP, DLC-2007, DLC-2009, DLC-2011, DLC-2014, DLC-3011, DLC-3014, EV-7, EV-10, EV-11, EV-14, KFP-7 and MP-14.
Cuisinart has offered to give customers free replacement blades for the affected models, but as of Tuesday evening, the company’s recall page is down, reportedly due to heavy traffic. On social media, customers similarly report calls to the company’s phone line at 1-877-339-2534 going unanswered or getting dropped.
Asked for comment, a Cuisinart spokesperson told Gizmodo, “We are doing everything we can to optimize website functionality.”
