The movie has reportedly added a pair of Apollo 13 alums. Of course, I should probably point out that the alums in question are not, say, Gary Sinise and Ed Harris, but rather Brett Cullen (who also played Nic Cage's dad in Ghost Rider) and Chris Ellis (who has also appeared in such films as Transformers and Armageddon). They're playing a judge and a priest, respectively, which means they also double as the setup for an incredibly hacky "walk into a bar" style joke. [Variety]

Co-writer Roberto Orci stopped by the TrekMovie forums to give the latest update on where the project stands. No, the script still isn't done:
Just been waiting for JJ [Abrams] to be free to really decide if he likes the story and hear his suggestions before we finish the script. Once he says go, we'll have it in no time. Meanwhile, our outline is detailed enough (70+ pages!) to do some prep :)...In the meetings we've had with JJ, he's already given us amazing input and ideas, and that's been while he's been up to his eyeballs in Super 8.
When asked what she would like to see in the sequel, Zoe Saldana offered this:
"I can tell you for what I'd like to see happen [which is] for Spock and see Uhura to really hook up, and for Uhura to kick some Romulan butt".
Of course, there's already speculation that this statement represents some sort of indirect confirmation that Romulans will be in the sequel, but there's plenty of other, much more logical ways to read this. If I had to guess, she's probably just referring to the fact that Uhura didn't get to fight any Romulans in the last movie, and she'd like a more active role in this one. Or she might have just been speaking completely hypothetically. People are known to do that, you know, even actors in science fiction movies. [Empire Online]
CSI: Miami actress Latarsha Rose and newcomer Brooke Bundy have reportedly been cast as Portia and Octavia, the stylists who prepare the District 12 tributes Katniss and Peeta for the Games. Still no word on who will play the head stylist Cinna. [EW]

Presented without further comment - because really, how could I improve on something this magnificent? - this quote from cowriter Jonathan Aibel:
"We envision it as Lord Of The Rings, but set in a world of candy. We don't see it as a movie based on a board game, although it has characters from that world and takes the idea of people finding themselves in a world that happens to be made entirely of candy where there are huge battles going on. We are going for real comedy, real action, and real emotions at stake."

Executive producers Joel Wyman and Jeff Pinkner confirmed that, logically, baby Henry no longer exists, though they offered nothing more than that. They also confirmed that Josh Jackson is indeed returning to the show. [E! Online]
Star Britt Robertson talks about her character Cassie:
"Cassie is this normal average teenage girl living the life and then she gets thrown into these crazy circumstances. She's uncovering this new world along with the audience."
