Not quite as DIY-looking as the other digital hourglass, this Digital Timer combines computing technology with century old stylings to make for one dorky looking desk gadget. It has a 100 minute timer and a stopwatch, plus a digital readout in case the virtual sand nuggets are too confusing.

A price of $17.95 makes for a cheap gift for the boss you hate. Hell, give one to your kids as well. You're not a big fan of them either.

I have a Polder digital timer that looks just like this. Like this one, it doesn't actually function as an hourglass; you flip it one way and it's a timer, the other way and it's a clock. I was a little bummed about that; I wanted to flip it over to start and stop the timer.

Anyway, I've given a few of them as gifts; it's so stupid, but everyone really seems to like it. Target (and Target through Amazon) and Linens N Things and the like sell them for about $14.
