Available exclusively at Disneyland and presumably other Disney theme parks around the world, this wonderful new zoetrope toy called the Disneyvision uses strobing lights and a vibrating support to bring one of six included rubber action figures to life—or at least create the illusion they’ve been brought to life.
Designed to look like an old retro TV set, the $30 toy includes a pair of dials that lets users adjust the speed of the vibration motor—and subsequently how much the figures flail about—and the speed of the strobing LED lights inside. So the animation effect can be fine tuned until the results are surprisingly convincing. Nothing compared to a Pixar film, of course, but impressive for ten seconds of messing about.
