DoCoMo’s latest journey into the wacky world of phones friendly with the environment is based on NEC’s N900iS handset. The phone uses bioplastic that contains Kenaf fibers — don’t ask me what those are — and is supposedly stronger and more heat-resistant than similar plastics using poly-lactic acid. Don’t expect these any time soon, though, as they are still pretty much useless from an economic standpoint; they take longer to manufacture, are more expensive, and can’t withstand things like being dropped.
