While most Leica lenses cost thousands of dollars, you can pick one up on eBay now for $995. There’s just one catch…it’s in half.

It wasn’t some random Sigma fan armed with a hacksaw—oh no, it was those darned Leica students, who created them for a graduation project. The lenses, a Leica Tri-Elmar-M 28-35-50mm (top) and Leica 50mm f/1.4 Summilux M ASPH (below) show an interesting cross-section of the various components used in their creation. The Tri-Elmar-M, discontinued in 2007, can be had for $995 over on eBay now—it even comes in a special keepsake Leica box.

Just be careful which photographer you show it to; they may well get nightmares that night. [eBay via PetaPixel]
