Some disappointment over at Forbes with Palm’s new Tungsten C, the one with built-in 802.11b:
Using a Tungsten C is rather like driving a Ferrari over cobbled streets in a mountain town. It needs the wide-open road to show its paces. The Tungsten C’s great appeal is its wireless connectivity to the Internet. But once you get there, the experience is mostly bad. Too few sites are optimized for viewing on such a small screen. Not Palm’s fault, it’s true: It has, after all, taken you to the Web as promised. But it’s scarcely worth paying $499 for a fast ride to nowhere.
Fair enough, but it’s the same complaint that could be made about any PDA with WiFi, like the Toshiba e740 Pocket PC.
