Every two years, the world turns its attention to the Olympics. Thanks to the Olympics app, you can experience everything from the Summer to the Winter Games, whatever sports you prefer. Medals in real time, highlights, and schedule—all in one app.

About Olympic Games

The Olympics (and Paralympics) are every sports fan's highlight. From the summer to the winter games, you can watch the best athletes in the world compete together in a spirit of fellowship. During this time, the Olympic truce means that every war in the world must pause. But for fans from all around the world, this really means two weeks of sports and passion.

The Olympic Committee (IOC) makes everything possible for everyone to follow this event. First, of course, you can connect to their website to follow every moment in real time. But, as we are in a well-connected world, they also offer a mobile app to download on your phone, and take it with you everywhere you go. You won’t miss any event, and will be able to read highlights and breaking news.

The Olympic Games app is something every sports fan should have on their phone. You will be able to follow your favorite country, teams, or even athletes throughout the duration of the games. And with the schedule, you won’t forget to tune in to watch what you want to.

For 2026, the app is set in the colors of the Milano Cortina Winter Olympics and Paralympic Games. In 2028, it will be the Los Angeles Summer Games. The 2030 Winter Games (for which the place is still to be determined, but could be in the French Alps). And the following Summer Games will be set in Brisbane (Australia) in 2032.

Why Should I Download the Olympic Games app?

Well, of course, you should download the Olympic Games app to get all the data from the games as they are happening. That seems obvious. But you could use another means to do so, so why this app above all else? Well, first, because it is the Olympic Committee's official app. So you will be able to access real-time information.

For every Olympic and Paralympic Games, be it Winter or Summer, the app is updated to adapt to the event. First, you will be able to follow the whole Olympic and Paralympic torch relay. Then you will get access to the full schedule of the games, from training to competition times and places. The app is essential for people who decided to make the trip and watch everything live, as it explains where everything takes place, so you can go there.

If you are not fortunate enough to be there in person, don’t worry; with the schedule, you’ll be able to not miss watching the live stream on the official streaming platform. The platform varies depending on your location. In the United States of America, NBC has the rights; in the United Kingdom, it’s the BBC and Discovery+, and in India, it’s JioStar, for example. The rights also vary with each Games.

During the Games, the app allows you to set reminders for your favorite countries, teams, athletes, or sports. You'll get a notification whenever one of your favorites is ready to be on air. There is also a real-time medal count for each participating country. And, of course, you’ll be able to read news articles and highlights about every sport.

The app also offers a trivia game to test your knowledge of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. Of course, like any other mobile game, you will be able to see how you rank globally on this knowledge.

Icing on the cake: the app allows you access to the Olympic and Paralympic shop, where you can find goodies of the current event.

What does the app offer outside of the Olympic and Paralympic Games?

Well, as you know, the Olympics and Paralympics are only every two years (winter and summer alternatively). But don’t uninstall the app when the Games are finished. If you are a sports fan, the app will follow you even between games.

Of course, the interface will slightly change outside of the Games period. But you’ll be able to read articles for international competitions, exclusive interviews, in-depth analysis on sports and athletes, and so much more, like videos, for example. This allows you to follow your favorites all year round.

For some sports, you will even be able to follow live events in video thanks to the Olympics channel. And, of course, the reminders system will still be in place, allowing you to be notified of the sports and athletes you want to follow every time an event is on or an article is published.

The Olympic Channel allows you to follow live sports and also watch documentaries on your favorite sports, teams, or athletes from the Olympics and Paralympics. This is exclusive content, only available through the Olympic Channel. Live events, documentaries, stories, and reporting, highlight videos—it is a full streaming platform. And thanks to the schedule, you will be able to program what you want to watch live.

The Olympic podcasts will immerse you in the heart of the Olympic universe. The service offers productions developed by the Olympic Committee and presents you with stories of athletes or events, behind-the-scenes stories about the Games, audio documentaries, and more. You will be able to find information on your favorite sports, but also lesser-known ones.

The podcasts and videos are available in the mobile app as well as on the website.

Is the Olympic Games app Free?

Yes. The mobile app and access to the Olympic and Paralympic Games website are free. You can create an account if you like, but it is not mandatory. If you do so, though, you’ll be able to save all your settings for when you change your device, and you go from the web to your phone.

What Operating Systems Are Compatible with the Olympic Games app?

The Olympic (and Paralympic) Games app is available for download on your mobile device. Android and iOS are both covered, and you can follow our direct links to the Google Play Store and the Apple App Store.

The Olympic (and Paralympic) Games website can be found via any browser on any system (follow our link). It offers fewer features than the app, but still allows you to follow your favorite sports. You can open it on Windows, Linux, macOS, or even Android and iOS (but the app is better for those two).

What Are the Alternatives to the Olympic Games app?

There isn’t really an alternative to the Olympics App that follows as closely the Olympic and Paralympic sports all year round, even between games. But here are some ideas.

For the US, you can download the NBC Sports app. It will carry a lot of data for the Olympics and Paralympics. As they are official streaming platforms for the games, you will also be able to access live feed videos for the sporting event, as well as other events, all year round. Of course, these are available along with the NBC TV shows. You can create an NBCUniversal account to save all settings. Some content may require a subscription, but some content is free.

Also for the US, you can follow TeamUSA. The website follows the USA Olympic and Paralympic teams as the games go on. You’ll get news articles, highlights, and data for USA athletes of each sport with medal count,  pictures from fans, and even videos. Everything you want to know about the USA Olympic and Paralympic team is there.

Of course, sports media will also mention the Olympics, just as ESPN or Yahoo Sports do, even if it’s not their main trajectory.

If you are outside the US, the app or website of the official streaming media for the event will do just fine as well.
