Already on the iPhone and iPad, WatchESPN is a wonderful app that lets users well, watch ESPN on their er, iPhone and iPads. It's wonderful though! And it'll be even more wonderful once it hits Apple TV.

According to Bloomberg, ESPN is currently in talks with Apple to bring the WatchESPN app to the Apple TV. That means subscribers of ESPN would be able to watch ESPN content on their Apple TVs too. This app/feature would probably look more like ESPN on Xbox where you could watch ESPN3 games and coverage on your TV but not ESPN and ESPN2 (as having ESPN and ESPN2 content would just duplicate the cable channels you already pay for). Still, any sort of ESPN is one of the reasons people have cable and getting it on the Apple TV would be a big effing deal.

However, ESPN says the deal isn't exactly imminent. But it is interesting that the sports giant made its talks with Apple public. Perhaps the two companies would like to time the launch with the Apple HDTV? [Bloomberg]
