Responding to the Neistat brothers, who launched a somewhat misguided guerrilla anti-marketing campaign to spread the word that the iPod’s battery only lasts 18 months and is unreplaceable (neither of which is exactly true), John Gruber has a several “alternative” slogans that they could have stencilled instead:
iPod’s “1-Year” warranty only lasts 12 months
Where by “unreplaceable” we mean “somewhat difficult to replace.”
The vast majority of two-year-old iPod batteries still work just fine, but I’m extraordinarily perturbed about the bad luck I’ve had with mine.
iPod would almost certainly require a significantly larger form factor to accommodate an easily-swappable battery.
I’m so f*****g dumb I’ve not only videotaped myself committing criminal vandalism, I’ve released the footage publicly.
