Firefly is already enough of a weird property to be turning into a board game, almost 13 years after it graced (and promptly left) our screens - it's not like people haven't tried to shoehorn it into more conventional games, either. But finally, someone's gotten round to making a Firefly game that looks pretty cool.
Okay, so Firefly: Fistful of Credits is a little on the nose as a title, but the premise sounds perfect: it's a co-operative game where 2-4 players work together to plan one of three Heists based on ones from the show itself (from Bushwhacked, The Train Job and Ariel) and attempt to pull them off for fun, profit and whatever else big damn heroes get up to. Each heist has its own board to play on, and players have to team up members of the Serenity's crew in groups to grab gear, fight or otherwise swindle your team into successfully pulling off the heists - which, as they were won't to do in Firefly, can have a bunch of complications throw up to put a spanner in the works.
It's kind of amazing that it took so long for something like this to happen, because it makes almost too much sense to not happen. This is actual Firefly-y stuff, not, well, Clue! If you're interested, you can pre-order a copy from Entertainment Earth for $60, ahead of an April release. Shiny!
