I think it was Inara, in the passenger dorm, with the teapot. Wait, what?
Whilst yesterday we brought you some of the cutest Firefly merchandise in the 'Verse, today we've got what has to be some of the strangest bit of tie-in merch for Joss Whedon's short-lived cult sci-fi hit: A version of Clue set on the Serenity.
(Editors note: As a Brit, this has always baffled me - why is Cluedo just called 'Clue' in America? I'm not entirely sure what you guys get out of dropping the 'do' bit, but there we go.)
This version of Cluedo tasks players not with solving a murder, but a kidnapping - The Alliance has recaptured River, and someone aboard the Serenity has sold her out. But who? Players can play as one of six suspects in the kidnapping - Inara, Mal, Zoe, Wash, Jayne and Kaylee (because Shepard Book and Simon wouldn't kidnap River, duh) - as they investigate the Serenity to try and hunt down the elements of the mystery. The game comes with a board depicting the ship split into 9 areas, as well as 9 metal tokens to represent the potential tools of River's kidnapping, including the likes of a revolver, Vera, a teapot, and even the show's mysterious 'hands of blue' - which are neatly painted blue as well, compared to the bronzey colour of all the other pieces.
Firefly Clue is due out sometime later this year for $40. But the real mystery is: Why isn't the answer to the game just 'Jayne', every gorram time?
