What happens when your iPad is stolen and you have Find My iPad turned on? Well you give your info to police, they track it down for you, and then seize 780 pounds of crystal meth in the process. Wait, what?

According to the San Jose Mercury News, the discovery of $35 million worth of meth in a Palo Alto San Jose apartment complex happens to be one of the biggest busts in US history. It was also a complete accident.

District Attorney Jeff Rosen said roughly 100 pounds or a little more of meth are recovered annually in the county, making this seizure “easily at least six years worth,” he said.

“I told my dad about the bust,” said Rosen, “and he said, ‘They have $35 million, and they can’t go out and buy an iPad?”

So remember, Find My iPad not only helps keep tabs on your tablet, it keeps tab on massive heaps of illicit drugs. 780 pounds of it. Dear god. [SJ Mercury News via SFist]
