Children of the world, look into the faces of the alien monsters that will abduct your mothers. The first image from the adaptation of Berkeley Breathed's Mars Needs Moms is out, and it is frightening.

We've seen the gorgeous spacecraft bathed in blue alien light, now stare at the spooky alien faces that will abduct your parents into the dark knight of the space sky. Creepy, we like it! The movie, based on Breathed's book, is supposed to be a little scary. But actually seeing the creatures spy on mothers from above, is even scarier. Which is probably the point as the book was written to make us all say "thank you" to our moms, lest they be kidnapped and shipped off to Mars while our backs are turned.

Here's the official synopsis:

Take out the trash, eat your broccoli – who needs moms, anyway? Nine-year-old Milo finds out just how much he needs his mom when she's nabbed by Martians who plan to steal her mom-ness for their own young. Milo embarks on a quest to save his mom – a wild adventure that involves stowing away on a spaceship, navigating an elaborate, multi-level planet and taking on the alien nation and their leader. With the help of a tech-savvy, underground earthman named Gribble and a rebel Martian girl called Ki, Milo just might find his way back to his mom – in more ways than one."
