Don't take your mother for granted, or aliens will come down from Mars, kidnap her, and horribly scar you for life. That's the message of Robert Zemeckis' final Disney production, Mars Needs Moms. Here's your first look.
Based on the book by Berkeley Breathed, this film marks the final Zemeckis foray into the uncanny valley. Let's hope these humans look better than the scary-as-hell Tom Hanks, from The Polar Express. Creepy CG aside, we love the look of the alien spaceship. Plus any film that's angling to scare children into being nicer to their parents by using the threat of alien abduction has our attention. We can't wait to see how this one goes over.
Official Synopsis:
"Take out the trash, eat your broccoli – who needs moms, anyway? Nine-year-old Milo finds out just how much he needs his mom when she's nabbed by Martians who plan to steal her mom-ness for their own young. Milo embarks on a quest to save his mom – a wild adventure that involves stowing away on a spaceship, navigating an elaborate, multi-level planet and taking on the alien nation and their leader. With the help of a tech-savvy, underground earthman named Gribble and a rebel Martian girl called Ki, Milo just might find his way back to his mom – in more ways than one."
It's in theaters March 11, 2011.
