Keyboardists tired of lugging around giant instruments have looked for solutions before: fewer keys (resulting in . . . fewer keys), thinner designs (less fun to play), and even roll-up designs (not at all fun to play). A New York-based inventor thinks he's found the solution: a modular, fold-up music keyboard with full-sized keys. He's published the patent online and welcomes input or volunteers for the development team. Go take a look and see if this looks desirable — or feasible. At least it's more likely to get built than the Collapsible Pocket Tuba. -P. Kirn
