If you’re seen Ant-Man—well, if you’ve seen Ant-Man and didn’t immediately book out of the theater when the credits start to roll like an insane person—then you saw the first look of the superhero outfit of a legendary Avenger and a welcome addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Now get a good look.
Marvel revealed this official still of Hope Van Dyne’s Wasp costume as revealed in Ant-Man’s mid-credits scene, which Evangeline Lilly will hopefully get to wear and kick ass in during Ant-Man 2 (if not sooner). I’m a big Avengers fan in general and a big Wasp fan in particular, so while I’m a little nerdishly taken aback that the wonderful Wasp will be wearing an Ant-Man-esque helmet, this is more than mitigated by the fact that the pointy head is almost certainly inspired by the Wasp’s goofy first outfit from Avengers #1. I would imagine like everyone else in the MCU, her costume will continue to evolve over the course of the movies.
That said, it’s still pretty stylish! I think the original Wasp, Janet Van Dyne, would approve! You know, if the MCU hadn’t killed her off decades ago.
