Google Search Results Now Show Identity of Creators

It’s been a busy day for Google. In addition to launching Google+ and Swiffy (a tool that lets you convert Flash video to HTML5) the company also updated Search so that it now shows content creators within the results.

Two weeks ago Google announced a new authorship markup designed to let creators claim their content online, and link it back to their Google profile. Today that data starts showing up in search results. Certain results will display an author’s picture and name (from their Google Profile) next to their content on the Google Search results page. This is yet more proof that Google is going hard after identity. It’s a whole new arms race. [Inside Search]
