Gutting the Pocket Cinema Player for the Game Boy Advance

Earlier this year a company called Pocket PC Films announced a plug-and-play cartridge for watching videos and listening to music on the Game Boy Advance. At the time they said it would use SD memory cards, which meant you could just transfer files from your PC and later watch them on your GBA, but now they’re backtracking a bit about what you’ll be able to do with the Pocket Cinema Player. They’ve ditched the SD card slot altogether, and instead the adapter, which is due out in May of next year, will use special 3-inch discs and a proprietary video format. This means that you won’t be able to use it to watch videos that you’ve downloaded yourself and the only videos it will play are ones on these special discs that will cost $12.99 and up. Oh, and it won’t play MP3s at all now, either.
